Many would have expected Ange Postecoglou to be firmly installed at Lennoxtown over the next two weeks to put his players through the day-to-day training and processes that have been the backbone of Celtic’s recent success.
However, the manager is taking an international break opportunity to return to his homeland with Celtic officials to promote the upcoming Sydney Super Cup.
Celtic will take on Everton and Sydney FC in the inaugural competition, hoping to pull in massive crowds at the Accor and Allianz Stadiums.
The social media account of one of the venues today revealed that the Bhoys boss, alongside Celtic staff, were in the city this week to take part in events hyping up the occasions.
Obviously, this has long been planned by the club and Postecoglou, but it was still a surprise for many supporters to find out the news today.
It’s the perfect time to take the trip with 13 of Celtic’s players leaving Lennoxtown to take part in international matches. Much of the remaining group will also likely get a couple of days off to relax before getting back to the hard work of training.
Regardless, Postecoglou obviously has trust in his coaching staff to keep the intensity high and the processes complete. His trip shows the Celtic group are functioning well even without him casting an eye over proceedings.
To date, there are still many tickets left for both Celtic matches, so this is probably the promotional boost the events needed to inspire locals and Australia’s football community.
Hopefully we get a few golden media appearances from the manager in a more relaxed environment!
In other news, Well-timed Celtic refresh on the way.
