Ange Postecoglou is enjoying the love of Celtic supporters and it sounds like the feeling is already mutual.

The Greek-Australian got a brilliant response from the 9,000 lucky fans who were in attendance vs Midtjylland on Tuesday night.

Roaring him on pre-match and during his media obligations, supporters also gave fantastic backing to the team during the 90 minutes.

Postecoglou was impressed, telling The Glasgow Times: “It was brilliant. It was a special night for me because to walk out the tunnel as Celtic manager in a Champions League game, the response was very special.

“I guess that’s why I love the game. You talk about finances, that’s the last thing on my mind when you get a response like that from people who love this football club. That’s what motivates me.

Celtic take some positive first steps under Ange Postecoglou

“They saw enough to encourage them to get right behind this group of players. Age alone, look at the line-up we had [on Tuesday night], we had inexperience and having a crowd behind them makes an enormous difference. I hope they left with a little bit more optimism about where they are heading.”

There are signs Ange and Celtic supporters could have special relationship

Let’s keep in mind it’s very early days. We have to caveat everything with that statement at the moment.

However, there are initial signs that the new boss and the Celtic fans are going to get on famously.

The way he deals with the media is really capturing the imagination of supporters, while his brand of attacking football could further cement cult status.

If he becomes a success at Celtic, he really has the manner and authenticity to be immensely popular. He’s just got that about him. The fact fans are so behind him already speaks volumes for him and his presence.

I’m very excited to see where this all goes.

In other news, Celtic got the messaging of Ajer exit and Starfelt arrival absolutely spot on.
