Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou has delivered his first dressing room speech to his Al Nassr players and the Parkhead support will recognise it instantly.

Postecoglou joined the Saudi club this week in a move that surprised the footballing world, as the former Celtic boss makes his next managerial move.

And as the Australian delivered his first message as the new Al Nassr boss, Celtic fans will instantly recognise what he said from when Postecoglou first arrived in Glasgow in 2021.

Celtic supporters have debated football’s authorities for years. Is FIFA any different? Have your say below.

Ange knew what Celtic needed before he spoke about football

Celtic fans remember the state of the club when Postecoglou arrived in 2021. Rangers had just won the title, a trophyless season had just ended, the dressing room was bruised and belief was at its lowest point.

But when Ange addressed the Celtic team and support, this message to Al Nassr will evoke those first memories of his arrival in Glasgow.

Postecoglou told his Saudi players, “First thing is very simple: Respect. Respect above everything else. I don’t need a lot of rules or to tell you what to do. Just respect. Respect each other.

“Every day we come in here and appreciate the life we have, because we’re all very lucky to do what we do.

“So I expect every day you come in with a smile on your face. Just try to be the best you can be every day. Again, it doesn’t mean you’ll be the best every day because we’re human beings.”

Football changed at Celtic because Ange changed the culture first

This kind of message is why players buy into Postecoglou from the get go. He talks about the human side of the game, not the need to get results.

No wonder Celtic’s players ran through brick walls for Postecoglou as he brought domestic dominance back to Parkhead.

His insistence of bringing respect to the dressing room clearly resonates with players.

The shirts have changed. The countries have changed. But Ange’s first message hasn’t.
