Celtic do not think the injury suffered by Kyogo Furuhashi on Thursday night is serious and the striker could even play against Motherwell today.
Those are the words of manager Ange Postecoglou as he delivered a remarkable injury update overnight in the Scottish written press.
Fears were strong that Kyogo would miss a couple of weeks after he went down clutching his hamstring against Real Betis. And while Celtic were yesterday awaiting the result of a scan, Postecoglou is entirely relaxed about the situation.
Stunning Celtic injury update
Speaking to The Daily Record, he said: “He’ll get scanned today (Saturday) and I don’t want to put a time frame on it.
“We don’t think it is anything serious but as to whether he will be available for Sunday, we probably won’t know until tomorrow. I’ll make a decision then but nothing is confirmed.”
It’s a stunning bit of news for anxious Celtic supporters who understand that Kyogo is a vital cog in the Bhoys machine. More than that, with injuries also sustained by Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis, he’s currently the only recognised centre-forward in the squad.

It still remains to be seen whether he will feature against the Steelmen. The smart money would be on him sitting this one out to keep him fresh for the match against Ross County mid-week, or even the Scottish League Cup final next weekend.
Nonetheless, it’s magic news from the manager and will cheer every Celtic supporter up this morning, that’s for sure.
