Celtic’s Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund is still being felt by the fans as the pain of a 7-1 defeat still sinks in.
After making such a positive start to the domestic season Dortmund taught Brendan Rodgers’ side a harsh lesson against one of the best teams in Europe on Tuesday night.
And whilst the fans try and delete the memory of the game from their minds, Arne Engels has shared how he is really feeling at Celtic after experiencing such a heavy defeat.
Arne Engels: Celtic is still ‘everything I hoped for’ even after Borussia Dortmund defeat
The Belgian international has been in fine form for Celtic since his £11m move from Augsburg in the summer.
And speaking to the German media after the game, Engels said he is still loving life at Celtic despite the Champions League disappointment.
Engels told Kicker, “Yes, it’s always nice to play in the Champions League, but I’d rather get good results as well.
“So it’s not so nice to have an evening like this here in Dortmund, but there are many more ahead of us, especially in the new format of the group stage.
“That’s why we should soon put this game behind us once we’ve analysed it and look forward to the next one.
When asked if he feels his time at Celtic is going well, Engels said, “Apart from this game here: yes. It’s everything I hoped for, sometimes even more. Even though today was a bad day for us, we are usually much better.”
Arne Engels will have a big say in Celtic’s Champions League adventure
Engels has already shown his quality in the brief few months he has been at Celtic.

The 21-year-old midfielder has already made his mark for Celtic in the Champions League with a goal and assist against Slovan Bratislava and another assist against Dortmund for Daizen Maeda’s brief equaliser against Dortmund.
With Atalanta up next, Engels has the chance to show that the Dortmund result, and Celtic’s performance, is a one-off and that this team can compete against the best clubs in Europe.
But for now, Ross County awaits Celtic in the Scottish Premiership where Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to go into the international break on a high with a comprehensive win over Don Cowie’s side.
