Celtic record buy Arne Engels further endeared himself to supporters with a goal from the spot as the Bhoys saw off Dundee to remain top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Belgium international started alongside Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan in the midfield three, putting in a dynamic display coupled with plenty of composure in possession.

When Kyogo Furuhashi was fouled by Antonio Portales in the lead-up to the home side being awarded a penalty, Arne Engels swept home with aplomb for Celtic as they slid past Dundee to retain top spot on goal difference with Aberdeen lurking below in second.

Having signed Engels for £11 million from Augsburg in the summer, the Bhoys’ most expensive-ever signing is now up to three goals and three assists in 11 appearances for his new club.

Enjoying his time in the limelight, the Dendermonde-born man certainly made the most of getting on the scoresheet against Dundee.

Arne Engels scenes emerge in Celtic Unique Angle

Earlier today, Celtic released their Unique Angle video, which depicted celebrations concerning both Alistair Johnston and Engels amid their goals helping the Bhoys to secure maximum points against Dundee.

Starting off, Johnston can be seen jumping for joy after striking the opener off the bench, running to deliver a fist-pump to the crowd before being mobbed by his oncoming teammates.

Soon after, Engels’ calm demeanour while waiting to take his penalty was followed by a stutter and a calm pass down the middle to evade John McCracken, sparking an ice-cool celebration before his colleagues came rushing to enjoy the moment with him.

After that, the Belgian turned to the crowd to share his happiness, throwing his arms up to and showing some passion after his third strike in Hoops, which will have delighted the home crowd.

Arne Engels has settled in nicely at Celtic

Helping to fill the void left by Matt O’Riley, Engels has made a fine start to his Celtic career and shown his ability to be a presence in both boxes.

The former Augsburg man has created 12 chances on Scottish Premiership duty alongside 27 touches in the opposition area and winning 19 duels, illustrating his adaptability across the pitch.

Hopefully, as he continues to gain minutes under Brendan Rodgers, the Belgium international can continue to justify Celtic’s large transfer outlay on his services.
