Arsenal are reportedly set to test Celtic’s resolve once more for Kieran Tierney over the next 48 hours.
The Hoops left-back has been the subject of much speculation regarding a move to the Emirates. The BBC believe that the Gunners have already been turned down with a £15million attempt to lure Tierney to London.
According to the Sunday Mail, however, Arsenal are set to come back in with a £20m bid. It’s a figure that would really test Celtic’s stubbornness over the sale of Tierney. It would be a club record if the deal could get done too.

The Sunday Mail still believes that Celtic want £25m in order to give Arsenal the chance to talk to their prized asset. Tierney, meanwhile, reportedly told Celtic that he wants the chance to speak to Unai Emery’s side (Daily Mail).
The Sunday Mail, however, states that Arsenal are confident they can get Tierney for less than the asking price
Celtic can do much better – bid shouldn’t test them
Many different Celtic fans will have their own opinions on Tierney’s valuation. But if we did sell him for £20m, it would feel like we’ve been had. After all, just look at the circumstances.
Tierney is tied to Parkhead until 2023. That’s done and dusted. Therefore, they can command what they want for the youngster.

Considering what Liverpool have managed to do with Andrew Robertson, there’s no reason a top side can’t develop Tierney into the same calibre of player. But in order to do that, they need to spend top dollar considering Tierney is one of the top youngsters in Britain if not Europe.
Clubs such as Porto, Benfica, and Ajax sell their top talent for top European money. If Celtic are aspiring to be like those clubs, they can’t undersell themselves when it comes to their own talent.

It’s surprising that the reported figures for Tierney aren’t as high as £30m or so. Given the potential that’s there, he could definitely be worth that. But if Celtic accept a bid in the region of £20m, it would be slightly eyebrow-raising for supporters. We can do better than that.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal even do come back in. But with the way talks are going, expect their interest not to end here.
