La Liga club Athletic Bilbao have congratulated Celtic immediately after our Scottish Premiership success tonight.

Ange Postecoglou’s men delivered the title at Tannadice tonight after their incredible season of consistency was finally rewarded.

Bilbao and Celtic have had a strong relationship in recent years. And the La Liga club were quick to offer their congratulations to the Hoops after tonight’s emotional success:

Bilbao’s relationship with the Hoops rocketed after they awarded their famous One Club Man award to the late great Billy McNeil in 2019.

And tonight’s classy gesture only goes to emphasise the strength of that relationship.

Celtic will undoubtedly receive plenty of plaudits from around the footballing world in the coming hours and days. But credit to Athletic Bilbao for being quick off the mark to offer theirs.

Athletic Bilbao show their class and give Celtic their congrats

Celtic can expect plenty of this. After what happened last season, there will be plenty of individuals and clubs ready to celebrate the Hoops’ triumph. Plenty of high-profile ones too.

It’s probably one of the most satisfying parts of winning the league title. You realise just how big an achievement it is when the praise starts getting showered down on the club from outside parties.

But this year it’ll be deserved even more than most others. Everything we’ve had to combat this season combined with the fact we were up against such a strong opponent – the Hoops deserve everything that’ll be coming their way over the coming days.

It’s imperative that those within the club enjoy this. Now isn’t the time to look ahead to what’s next. It’s not the time to be worrying about where our glaring weaknesses are or even what’s needed in the summer time.

There’s no point working hard towards a title all year if we’re not going to embrace the winning of it properly. Praise from external parties is all part of it.

It’s great to have these days back at the club once again.
