Celtic defender Auston Trusty is cementing himself as an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ squad as he continues to settle in nicely at Parkhead.

Coming in on deadline day from Sheffield United, £6 million signing Trusty has now featured nine times for the Bhoys amid Cameron Carter-Vickers’ recent injury trouble.

Making his mark over the last trio of fixtures, the United States international has helped Brendan Rodgers’ side keep three consecutive clean sheets against Atalanta, Motherwell and Dundee.

With Celtic set to take on Aberdeen tomorrow in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final, Trusty indicated the Bhoys are feeling ‘very confident’ about facing the Dons.

Whether he or Liam Scales will take the mantle of playing beside Carter-Vickers tomorrow remains to be seen, but the message for the new signing at Parkhead is clear.

Auston Trusty’s love for Celtic and class Brendan Rodgers vow

Per The Herald, Trusty is loving the expectation on his shoulders at Celtic and has vowed to play wherever manager Rodgers sees fit after already featuring on both sides of defence.

He explained: “I love it. It’s such a historic club. You see the passion from top to bottom in the organisation and with the fans, how they truly care.

“Every game is such an opportunity. Even though it’s game after game after game, it’s amazing and you still have the thrill and excitement every single time. Every game is important – every game is a final.”

Later, Trusty continued, stating: “It was good playing with Cam. I’ve known him for quite a bit now so it was nice playing alongside him.

“Overall it was really good. I’ll do whatever is needed for the team. That’s my mindset and I think I’ve shown my capabilities to play any position along the backline.

“Whatever it is, I’ll give it my best go. I’ll do whatever it takes for the team if the gaffer asks me to do it.”

Auston Trusty is making great strides at Celtic

After taking a little bit of time to settle in, Trusty has now started to impart his influence on the pitch, putting in some solid displays as part of the Celtic backline.

Stat-trackers Fotmob show he has won 34 duels and made 24 recoveries on Scottish Premiership duty, with his pace a notable feature within Rodgers’ tactical framework.

23 aerial duels have also been put up by the American, who continues to illustrate why Celtic paid £6 million to acquire him in the summer.

Hopefully, the ex-Arsenal man can prolong his form in green and white, giving Rodgers a selection headache at the back in turn.
