Celtic licked their wounds by seeing off St Mirren at Parkhead last time out to recover from a defeat against Rangers at Ibrox.

The Bhoys have recorded only one domestic loss under Brendan Rodgers as their impressive run of form has carried them to a 13-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

On the contrary, Celtic’s remarkable consistency didn’t stop the wagons circling after and external narratives emerging the loss to Rangers.

Despite some opening their mouth a little too much after derby day, Philippe Clement’s side were brought back down to earth against Hibernian with a thud as they dropped two points last weekend as their disastrous run of away form continues. .

Remaining stoic in the face of a poor result, Celtic reacted by comfortably defeating St Mirren and produced another dominant performance to aid their prospects of a fourth successive title.

Everyone will have their role to play at home to Dundee United this evening, but Auston Trusty has highlighted why the manager’s perspective has restored the feelgood factor at Parkhead rather swiftly.

Auston Trusty on how Brendan Rodgers inspires Celtic mindset

Speaking to Celtic TV, Trusty made it clear that his side have simply doubled down on their principles, emboldened by Rodgers, to recover from a frustrating day at Ibrox that will hopefully be viewed as nothing more than a minor blot on their excellent start to the campaign.

He stated: “You know, I think this team has shown a lot of character. We’ve had loads in the past and we’ve been able to bounce back after that.

“It was just another one of those, believing in ourselves and getting back to doing what we do best and getting back into our rhythm, when there’s downs there’s also ups.”

On Rodgers re-asserting Celtic’s winning mentality, he continued: “Obviously, we learn from our mistakes and learn what we don’t want to do, but to realise the season we have had and what we will do in the future to continue to back ourselves and continue to play our game and play our way and the results will come. We have to put the work in first, then the results come.”

Brendan Rodgers has no problem asserting Celtic authority

Say what you like on Rodgers’ comments involving Celtic star Greg Taylor and Kieran Tierney after the Bhoys toppled St Mirren, but he once again showed he isn’t afraid to speak his mind as the man in charge.

Of course, supporters have rightly made their own point on matters relating to that particular situation.

Nevertheless, his authority appears to translate over to the playing squad, who are clearly fully behind the man who had led them to a position where domestic dominance and European progression are simultaneously on the table.

Even if one or two issues have detracted from Celtic’s mission to secure glory on all fronts over the last few days, Rodgers and company will put any thought of that to one side as the fixture schedule intensifies.
