He hobbled off to be replaced by Jason Cummings in the 38th minute after trying his best to get on the scoresheet for the Dees.
Griffiths had a few decent chances against the visitors but couldn’t quite find his way to goal. Rangers are a goal up heading into the interval at the time of publishing.
The striker has had a number of calf problems over the years at Celtic and this latest setback is a further blow to his loan on Tayside. He’s yet to score a goal under ally James McPake.
It was clear that Griffiths’ time had ran out at Celtic, but most people thought he could well be a good option for Dundee this season.
However, now injured and facing a ban, a big turnaround will be needed to get back on track.
