Wilfried Nancy already finds himself under the microscope at Celtic.
And that’s not just because of what’s happening on the pitch. In classic Scottish football hysteria, Nancy’s use of a tactics board has dominated conversation after losing his first match against Hearts.
Chris Sutton has defended Nancy after what is undoubtedly an overreaction to his use of the board – but there’s no doubting that he can’t afford many more results like Sunday’s.
The new Celtic boss will take charge of his first Europa League match on Thursday, when Roma travel to Celtic Park.
And speaking this week, Si Ferry pointed one particular aspect of Nancy’s first day at Celtic that he couldn’t get his head around.
How are your first impressions of Wilfried Nancy?
Si Ferry on what Celtic did on Wilfried Nancy’s first day
Nancy’s arrival at Celtic was delayed by paperwork, leaving Martin O’Neill in charge for longer than expected.
Eventually, the Frenchman was announced less than an hour before O’Neill’s final game against Falkirk at Parkhead.

He got to work at Lennoxtown the next day, but didn’t arrive at the training ground until the middle of the afternoon.
Celtic posted footage of Nancy introducing himself to the likes of Michael Nicholson, James Forrest and Alistair Johnston.
And Ferry, speaking on Open Goal, can’t get his head around why the club are going behind the scenes so early in his tenure.
He said: “Football teams following the manager, on his first day, with a camera. Leave him alone!”
“He wants to have conversations with his players, he doesn’t want you filming it, Nancy. Filming him and the Chief Exec having a cuddle outside the taxi – who the f— wants to watch that?
“And then he’s gone up to James Forrest – who’s as awkward as he is already, James – you’ve got a camera in his face, he doesn’t know what to say to the manager.
“And then everyone’s slaughtering it! Why? Why put him through that?”
Was Celtic’s ‘behind the scenes’ footage with Nancy unnecessarily invasive?
Wilfried Nancy’s upcoming matches in charge of Celtic
Despite the upcoming Roma clash, some Celtic fans might already be thinking about Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren.
Regardless of the circumstances, there is no acceptable option than winning a cup final. Nancy has already been in charge of a few, he knows that.
There is little respite after that as the Celts immediately travel for another midweek clash, this one against Dundee United at Tannadice.
Aberdeen come to Celtic Park after that, before meetings with Livingston, Motherwell and Rangers over the festive period.
