It may be several months since Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi left Vissel Kobe, but his former teammate and Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta is still seemingly close to the striker.

It’s Kyogo’s birthday today, and naturally, the good wishes have been flowing all morning on social media. Andres Iniesta very quickly got involved in the fun, sharing a “Omodetooooo amigo!” message on his Instagram story. “Omedetou” can be used to mean “congratulations” in Japanese.

Endearing stuff, we’re sure you’ll agree. Iniesta, instead of treating the J League as some kind of retirement home, flourished alongside the now-Celtic striker in Kobe. The duo combined for 15 goals in 70 Vissel Kobe games together [Transfermarkt].

The Barcelona legend has consistently praised his former teammate since he joined the Hoops. In August, Iniesta told The Times: “Kyogo is an excellent footballer.

“He is so hard-working, he is very fast and he scores goals. He has many very good qualities for European football.

“I’m glad he started so well in Glasgow because he was really looking forward to playing in Europe. Celtic is a historic club in world football, ideal for Kyogo.”

Judging by his Instagram content, the love is still very much there. But it’s not just limited to Andres Iniesta, with Celtic fans celebrating their star summer signing.

The Celtic supporters had their fun on social media, too.

Rarely has a player connected with the Hoops faithful so quickly. Since Kyogo arrived, his every touch has been greeted with sheer excitement. His goals and assists have been bountiful, and in many ways he represents the bold new era for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou.

Naturally, then, his birthday was going to cause a commotion. Here are some reactions on social media:

Just very, very wholesome stuff all-round.
