It has never been a season like it at Celtic, Rangers or Hearts.

The entertainment, drama, unexpected news, and chaos Scottish football has brought this season has been pretty remarkable.

But with Celtic chasing down Hearts in the Premiership table, things could yet get very interesting in the coming months.

Not forgetting that the January transfer window is around the corner, and that might just change the tide in more ways than one.

Celtic, Rangers and Hearts in the January transfer window

Given the farcical nature in which Celtic backed Brendan Rodgers in the summer, and the protests from the fans that followed.

The upcoming January transfer window is more important than ever, and the Celtic board are also under more pressure than before because they have to back the new boss, Wilfried Nancy.

Speaking on Go Radio, Barry Ferguson thinks Celtic, Rangers and Hearts will go down the same road in the winter.

The former midfielder feels Celtic and Rangers will ‘go strong’, given how things have panned out in the opening months, and the fact that they have parted ways with their managers.

Whilst Ferguson also feels Hearts, who are backed by the ever-growing Jamestown Analytics, are also going to ‘go again’ in January.

“Celtic and Rangers are going to go strong in January,” said Ferguson. “That’s what I firmly believe. I think Hearts will as well. I do.

“They (Hearts) have proved up until mid-December (that they are in the title race). I don’t think Derek McInnes will have any problem playing against Celtic, Rangers or Hibs.

“It is the so-called smaller teams where they will have more of the ball. Derek is a top manager, I am sure he will realise that, and I am sure they will be working on that.

“But in terms of strengthening their squad, I think they will go again in January. There is no doubt in my mind that they will.”
