Barry Ferguson has clearly been left irked by Brendan Rodgers after his comments on current Rangers manager Russell Martin.
Rodgers defended Martin ahead of the comfortable win against Partick Thistle, claiming that it was unnecessary for those who have been in the same position previously to dig out the current manager.
For the Celtic manager, this was nothing more than one of his usual tongue in cheek comments. However, Ferguson has clearly been left rattled and believes that the Northern Irishman is doing it to deflect from his own problems.
Barry Ferguson accuses Brendan Rodgers of using ‘deflection tactics
Ferguson opted to respond in his Daily Record column, in which he repeatedly claimed that he hasn’t been disrespectful to his replacement, and that Rodgers made the comment to take the noise away from ongoing tensions with the Celtic board.
He said: “I couldn’t see any reason for it. It just felt a bit odd coming from a man of his experience. It felt very much like a deflection tactic.
“If I had been asked the same sort of question I would simply have shut it down on the basis that it’s not my job to comment or concentrate on what’s happening at another club.
“Celtic have obviously got their own internal issues at the moment and that’s not my concern.”

Celtic are clearly focusing on themselves
A nerve has clearly been touched, but it is clear to point out that the Hoops are very much focused on themselves.
Celtic face Red Star Belgrade in the first game of their Europa League campaign tonight (Wednesday 24 September) and are currently in a battle with Hearts to remain top of the league.
While fans continue to protest against the Celtic board off the pitch, those on the pitch are still picking up points and are well-placed for a strong domestic season. The same can’t be said for the Glasgow derby neighbours.
