Bayern Munich are aiming for a special season.
By the end of the next month, Vincent Kompany could have delivered the German giants’ third treble in 13 years.
Of course, this doesn’t mean domestic trebles, like Celtic’s five over the last decade. These trebles constitute the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.
Some of the numbers behind Bayern’s season are extraordinary, so much so that they’re aiming for the Lisbon Lions’ records.

Bayern won their first treble in 2012-13 in Jupp Heynckes’ last season before departing for Pep Guardiola. They did it again in 2019-20, under Hansi Flick.
As reported by the Munich-based outlet TZ, their points-per-game from this season is better than in both of those, as it stands.

They have already secured the Bundesliga title, sitting 15 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund with four games to go.
They still have to contest the Pokal final against recent Hoops opponents Stuttgart, whilst they face a Champions League semi-final against European champions PSG.
If they are to secure the treble, they will become the first club in history to achieve it three times.
They would also be doing it with the highest points-per-game tally since Jock Stein’s Lions in 1967, who famously won five trophies in a single campaign.
It’s fair to say that they’ve become a more formidable side than the one that Brendan Rodgers’ Celts faced in last season’s first knockout round, in which the German giants needed a last-minute goal from Alphonso Davies to avoid extra time.

This season, they have already scored a staggering 163 goals, more than either of their previous two trebles. They have already broken the record for the most goals in a Bundesliga season.
The Lions managed 196 goals in 1966-67, giving Bayern 33 goals to make up that total in their remaining seven or eight games of the season.
Celtic have around half that total at the minute: they sit at 95 in all competitions, and just 59 in the league.
