Bayo reportedly set to miss Sarajevo clash, luckily replacements are available

Celtic have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their upcoming Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo. The Scottish Sun is reporting that Vakoun Issouf Bayo is set to be out for up to 10 days with a hamstring injury.

That would rule him out of the first leg of the tie. It also makes his participation in the second leg very doubtful. The news is a blow for the player. However, he will be relived that the injury isn’t as serious as his hamstring issues last season.

Whilst all at Celtic will be upset that Bayo’s injury issues continue, the good news is that there are replacements available for the Sarajevo clash.

Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths can play the striker role for the Hoops with aplomb. Indeed, it will be interesting to see who Neil Lennon decides to pick as his striker for the game.

Normally you would expect Edouard to get the nod. However, Griffiths has been in excellent form during the Hoops’ pre-season tour.

Has striker proved fitness to manager?

Has he proved to Neil Lennon that he is able to start his first competitive match for the Hoops since last year? That remains to be seen.

If the Hoops had an injury at right-back that would be a real issue, as the team is lacking in the right-back area.

Thankfully, replacement strikers are available, and even though Bayo’s absence is a blow, the Hoops can cope with it.
