BBC man’s bizarre take on Celtic’s ‘dodgy’ win vs Dundee

Celtic sit nine points clear of Rangers and 15 goals ahead of Aberdeen after last night’s result in the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers guided Celtic to a 2-0 win over Dundee in a game where the Hoops could have scored at least another seven like they did the last time Tony Docherty brought the Dens Park club to Celtic Park.

Goals from Celtic hero Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels ensure the three points remained at Celtic Park as the league standings between Celtic, Aberdeen and Rangers remain unchanged. Almost.

But it was what BBC man, Phil Goodlad said about the Celtic Park win against Dundee that seems rather odd today.

Celtic’s ‘dodgy’ Dundee win

Goodlad said on The Scottish Football Podcast [19m 26s], “Celtic still top on goal difference from Aberdeen after a stodgy 2-0 win last night, Daniel, at home against Dundee.

“And I say dodgy because, in the first half, they had a couple of big chances, but Dundee stuck in, held it together.

“And maybe going out for the second half, you thought, ‘I wonder if the big headline of the night will come in the East End of Glasgow’.”

There’s nothing ‘dodgy’ in the stats in Celtic’s win vs Dundee

Now 67 Hail Hail could understand Goodlad’s view if the possession was shared and Dundee had their chances in front of goal, but the stats simply don’t back that up.

And to make this fair, we have taken the BBC’s match statistics to prove it:

I think it’s fair to say that Celtic absolutely dominated the game and it should have been out of sight by half time.

Plus to make that kind of assessment after watching what happened after Brendan Rodgers made three superb second-half substitutions, it’s not the first time the Celtic boss has used the strength of the squad to get a result this season.

There was only one dodgy result and performance last night and it wasn’t at Celtic Park.
