Brendan Rodgers’ post-match comments about Celtic winger, James Forrest, have been branded as ‘strange’ by BBC pundit, Rory Loy.
The Celtic manager said that Forrest is Celtic’s best winger in the context of the quality he provides on the flanks.
Rodgers also touched on the fact that Forrest has found it tough not getting the amount of football he wants and it was these comments that left BBC pundit, Rory Loy, totally confused.
Loy said [BBC Sportsound], “I think you would be forgiven for thinking that James Forest was pushing 40 the way that interview came across.
“To describe him as your best winger and he’s not played a lot over the last couple of years because of the intensity of the football.
“But over the last three years, he’s simply not been picked because the managers at that particular time thought they had better options.
“But he comes on today and was sublime. Superb.
“And that’s how you get into the starting eleven. You need to get your 20 or 30 minutes off the bench. Come on and make an impact.
“But I thought that was a little bit of a strange assessment of where James Forest is at given he is only 32.
“And to me, to my mind, he could go and play 90 minutes no bother at full intensity.”
I genuinely don’t understand why Loy is confused with Rodgers’ comments as he seems to be in agreement with everything the Celtic manager said.

Maybe it was the tone of Rodgers’ comments that threw Loy but to me, Forrest came on and really sparked the Celtic team into action in the latter stages of the game.
The 32-year-old winger still has a bit to offer Celtic. As he proved yesterday, coming off the bench, Forrest can be an effective weapon for Rodgers.
But where I do disagree with Loy is in his assertion that he could play at full intensity for 90 minutes. If that really was the case then Rodgers would have been using him a lot more this season than he has.
