Celtic’s win over Hibernian on Sunday ticks off a tricky fixture with a vital three points in Brendan Rodgers’ bid to defend the Scottish Premiership title.

Goals from Nicolas Kuhn and Callum McGregor stole the headlines for Celtic as they restored their two-point advantage over Rangers at the top of the table.

But it was what Cameron Carter-Vickers did during the game that impressed BBC pundit, Scott Allan, as he shares how the Celtic defender helped his team dominate the capital club.

How Carter-Vickers helped Celtic attack

Not normally associated with helping Celtic’s attacking play, Allan shares how Carter-Vickers helped pen the Hibs players in their own half to help Rodgers’ team to victory at Easter Road.

Allan said [BBC Radio Scotland], “I think the way Celtic are playing is affecting Hibs shape. I’m just thinking about it there, as the half went on, in the midfield area, the defensive area for Hibs became so congested.

“It was actually because Carter-Vickers was playing most of the second part of the first half five yards inside Hibernian’s half.

“So it naturally pushes all the Hibs players back into their own half and that’s maybe why the spaces weren’t there so much as the half went on for Celtic to get the combinations together.

“So, yes, you can want to change it but you need to have control of the ball at times to affect games and Celtic have completely dominated this.”

Celtic are impressing early

Celtic have now recorded two impressive wins over two opponents that caused them real problems last season.

With six goals scored and none conceded, Brendan Rodgers’ side is looking strong and has taken their brilliant pre-season form from the US Tour into the SPFL.

With League Cup duty up next, the Celtic boss will be looking to make amends in the competition after being knocked out early last season by Kilmarnock.

Confidence in the Celtic camp looks high and if Rodgers can get past Hibs next week then the fans can look forward to competing for a possible treble this season once again.
