Benjamin Nygren has moved to shut down the ‘noise’ surrounding Celtic and to share how he feels about Brendan Rodgers’ resignation.

Rodgers brought Nygren to Celtic in the summer and the Swede has enjoyed a decent start to his Hoops career.

Since the move, Nygren has scored six goals and created five assists despite Celtic sitting second in the league to Hearts and booking a place in the Premier Sports Cup final.

And here, the Swedish international has shared what he thinks about the negativity surrounding Celtic and Rodgers’ shock resignation.

Benjamin Nygren shuts down the ‘noise’ surrounding Celtic

With Celtic looking for a new manager, performing poorly in the Europa League and having players like Daizen Maeda looking to leave the club, Nygren says he is still loving his time in the green and white Hoops.

Nygren told the Daily Record, “There has been a lot of noise around the club.

“But Celtic are a very big club and there are an extremely large number of fans who care with all their hearts.

“We missed out on the Champions League place and have lost a few games, and then Brendan Rodgers resigned.

“But for me personally, it has still been good. That’s just how it is when you are at a big club because so many people care about it.

“I think that’s also the beauty of the sport and that we have such a large following who love Celtic. That’s why it’s a great honour to represent that club.”

Defiant Nygren ‘sad’ to see Brendan Rodgers leave Celtic

And as for Rodgers leaving Celtic, the Swede admits that the former Hoops boss was the ‘big reason’ he moved to Glasgow.

Nygren continued, “I was sad that Brendan Rodgers left because I liked him and think he is a really good manager. He was a big reason why I went to Celtic. I got a really good feeling for him.

“But I have had a lot of managers in my career and I will probably have even more. I focus on what I can do and contribute what I can on the pitch.

“And the reason I believe we will turn the negativity around is because we are the best team in the country.”

Nygren is currently on international duty with Sweden after receiving a call-up this month.

The Celtic star was an unused sub in Sweden’s last two fixtures as he hopes to earn his seventh cap against Switzerland tonight.
