Benjamin Siegrist begins a new chapter in his career after making the summer switch from Celtic to Neil Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest.

The Swiss stopper had a tough couple of years in Glasgow as he struggled to compete with Joe Hart for the number one jersey.

And after two years and two appearances, Siegrist now makes the move to Romania where Rapid Bucharest seem really excited to have captured his signature.

But now that he is set to work under Neil Lennon, Siegrist has shared what he really thinks of the former Celtic boss.

Siegrist hails ‘huge’ Celtic figure

Neil Lennon had a tremendous career at Celtic as a player and a manager and it seems that Siegrest is really looking forward to working under a man he has a huge amount of respect for.

Siegrist said [FC Rapid], “I am very happy and proud to be here. It’s a new important chapter in my career, at a very big football club.

“I like challenges. I think good football is played here in a competitive league and I am ready to give my best for Rapid.

“The supporters are amazing and I hope we have many beautiful moments together! I can’t wait to work with Neil Lennon. I only played against him, but he is a very great coach, a huge name in the history of Celtic.”

Despite what happened in his final season as the Celtic manager, Neil Lennon will always be a legend at the club.

There will be some Celtic fans who have a split opinion on that after the COVID season but looking at the success he brought as a player and two spells as a manager, Lennon deserves to be remembered for that.

As a player, Lennon helped restore Celtic’s reputation on the European scene as well as helping to deliver the club’s first treble since the Jock Stein era.

As a manager, he replicated that success by beating the likes of Barcelona in Europe and delivering Celtic’s second nine-in-a-row and the Quadruple Treble.

I genuinely hope Lennon is a success in Romania with Rapid and he restores his new club to becoming champions of Romania to continue his excellent record in management.
