Celtic’s latest recruit Alexandro Bernabei has shared why joining the Hoops is the ideal move for him, thanks to Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.
The 21-year-old full-back was officially confirmed as a Celtic player earlier today, signing a five-year deal at Parkhead.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of the former Lanus man and are already looking forward to seeing the talented left-back in action.
The defender also arrives with a high pedigree and is rated in his homeland. So the move from Celtic is seen as a real coup by pundits in South America.
Speaking in a press conference 67 Hail Hail attended, Bernabei opened up on the reasoning behind his move to Celtic and credited Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou as a huge influence due to the 56-year-old attacking style of football.
When asked about Postecoglou and his suitability to the system, Bernabei said: “It was about 90% of my decision speaking to Ange because his style of play is the idea of football that I really identify a lot with. That kind of playing style.”
He continued: “I think I will do very well in this type of system. I have seen that this is the kind of attacking football that the full-backs play here, and this is something I really do well with.
“There is a lot of 50-50s; there is a lot of 2-vs-1s. But I do well in that type of game.”
Having already featured for Argentina at youth levels, including their under-23s squad, Bernabei has high ambitions of playing for his national team one day.

The full-back admitted it would be a dream to win his first cap for the senior side, and he hopes that can come within the near future.
“I really hope so; it’s a dream of mine to play for the national team in Argentina. So, I really hope that is going to become a reality soon.”
Ange Postecoglou’s influence has been hugely important on Celtic’s recruitment.
Since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival last summer, recruitment has played a huge part in the former Socceroos manager’s incredible turnaround of this squad.
The Celtic boss deserves great praise for the role he has had to play in that, and we have now heard from several new signings who opened up on the special ‘Ange phone call’.
He will be hoping that Bernabei can deliver success similar to much of his previous recruitment.
Postecoglou and the staff at the club certainly seem to have done their homework on our newest signing, though. Fingers crossed, we are able to see the left-back have an impact right from the off.
