Bitton has earned the right to keep Celtic place for Easter Road

Celtic’s 2-1 win over Hearts on Wednesday was only the second start in over a year for Hoops midfielder Nir Bitton.

The midfielder also started Sunday’s 4-1 win over Motherwell, and in both games he acquitted himself well. This is particularly true of his performance at Tynecastle. It should be remembered that it was his pass which lead to the breakaway goal by James Forrest which put the Hoops 1-0 up.

Does the quiet things well

Bitton does the quiet things well. He recycles the ball and gets it forward to the more attacking players in the side. He has more than earned a start in the side for Saturday’s titanic Scottish Cup quarter-final against Hibernian.

Bitton and Scott Brown will be tasked with breaking up the play in the middle of the park and winning the midfield battle at Easter Road. If Brown and Bitton do their job, it would go a long way towards a Hoops victory.

Notable that Lennon kept faith

It is perhaps notable that Neil Lennon kept faith in Bitton. He picked him for his first game in charge of the Hoops at Tynecastle.

They are similar types of players, midfield destroyers more than creators. If there is one man who will be able to help Bitton improve his game it is Lennon. Hopefully we will see an example of that at Easter Road on Saturday.
