Former Celtic captain Tom Boyd has insisted that the Bhoys breaking the 100 points barrier this season would be a “special” achievement, with Ange Postecoglou’s team continuing to look unstoppable in the top flight.
Celtic currently sit on 88 points and can still make it to 109 by the end of the campaign. That would require seven wins from the last seven, which would be remarkable but not out of the realm of possibility considering the team’s form this term.
The current points record for a 38-game season stands at 106, which was set by Brendan Rodgers’ Invincibles side of the 2016/16 campaign.

History within Celtic’s reach
Although there is no invincible tag this term, that team can still be surpassed. Boyd reckons if Celtic manage to simply make it to triple figures the achievement should not be downplayed. Only two Bhoys teams have managed to do it in the past.
He said [Scottish Daily Mail, 14/04 print edition page 80]: “It’s well within their reach. It’s a remarkable season no matter what happens now, but it would be incredible if they could go on and set a new points record. It would be testament to the job Ange is doing if he can go on and secure his place in the record books.
“People can talk down the opposition and so on, but to be so consistent over such a long period of time is not easy. There are so many things that can go wrong on any given day, you can have injuries, red cards, the odd bad day at the office. It takes something special to get over 100 points at any time.
“They are on a long unbeaten run and they just don’t look like dropping points against anyone. They’ve only dropped points in two games all season, which is absolutely outstanding, and that will see them through to the end of the season. I would say two-in-arow is in the bag.”
With a 100-year club goals record also at risk this term, it’s clear that this is one of the best league seasons the club has ever had in its long, long history. Postecoglou definitely deserves credit for that.
The manager likes to stay focused on the next game and the next game only, but this chase for records is certainly going to grab the support’s imagination now that the title race is all but over. An exciting few weeks is ahead.
In other news, Ange puts no limit on Jota potential; credits the less-heralded side of his Celtic form.
