Celtic make the short trip to Ayrshire tomorrow for a Sunday afternoon battle against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
While supporters will still be basking in the glory of the Bhoys’ Champions League victory over Leipzig during midweek, Brendan Rodgers knows his side need to round off for the international break with three points to stay top of the table.
Aberdeen are in action tonight against Dundee and will reach the summit with a win or draw. This will put pressure on Celtic to either reclaim their lead or extend the gap over Jimmy Thelin’s men.

Rugby Park offers a vastly different test from Tuesday night’s affair against one of the Bundesliga’s finest outfits. However, Kilmarnock are always ready for a contest, so there can be no room for complacency.
Now, midfielder Brady Lyons has laud out how the home side are feeling ahead of their clash against the Scottish Premiership holders.
Brad Lyons speaks out ahead of facing Celtic
Speaking ahead of Kilmarnock’s clash against Celtic, Lyons is bullish and believes his side can cause problems for the Bhoys at Rugby Park.
He explained, firstly referencing Celtic’s win over Leipzig: “I didn’t watch it, but I talked to a few of the boys and I seen the stats of the game.
“Every season, we know Celtic’s qualities, they have quality players in every position, but so do we, so we’re not going into this game shying away from it. We know their quality, but we can give them a good go here.”
Later, he continued: “Absolutely, obviously. We’re going to go in and back ourselves; it’s 11 players against 11 players out there. As I said before the Rangers game, we beat both Old Firm teams out there last year; why can’t we go and do it this year?
We have that feeling of beating Celtic, we have that confidence, and we know we can do it; why can’t we do it on Sunday?”
Celtic keen to get the job done against Kilmarnock
Yesterday, Kasper Schmeichel made it clear Celtic wouldn’t take Kilmarnock lightly, as the next challenge is the only matter on the mind of the Bhoys’s dressing room.
He said: “There are no easy games and we are in no way expecting an easy game on Sunday. That’s the beauty and the challenge of playing at a club like Celtic. You have to be able to adapt to all the different competitions you’re in.”
Given a chance to cement their spot at the summit is on the table for Celtic, the onus is now on the Bhoys to finish off a productive week in style.
