Brendan Rodgers can repeat history with Celtic if he completes Treble-winning feat against Aberdeen

Brendan Rodgers is on the cusp of yet another Treble-winning season with Celtic.

It’s astonishing that is a sentence alone but is testament to why Rodgers is officially one of Celtic’s most successful managers of all time.

His side have already wrapped up the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Premiership – the latter in convincing fashion – and will look to put the icing on the cake against Aberdeen.

The Scottish Cup final is the perfect way to bring the curtain down on the season and whilst supporters still have fond memories of Adam Idah’s stoppage time winner against Rangers in a Glasgow derby final from 2024, the Celtic boss will hope history can repeat itself.

Brendan Rodgers will be wanting to recreate history against Aberdeen

Across his two spells at Parkhead, Rodgers has won an astonishing 11 out of a possible 12 trophies – the only defeat being in the Scottish League Cup in the 23/24 season.

A win at Hampden Park on Sunday would be his third Treble in his tenure at the club and the first of his second spell in charge.

History would be mirroring itself as Aberdeen are the very same team Celtic beat under Rodgers to take home a clean sweep of domestic trophies in 2017.

Tom Rogic’s last minute winner secured the Treble back to 2017

Fans will be hoping for a similar outcome to the 2017 meeting against Aberdeen, although maybe not with as many nerves.

Tom Rogic’s stoppage time winner ensured a 2-1 for the Hoops in front of a packed-out crowd after Stuart Armstrong’s equaliser cancelled out former Celtic player Jonny Hayes’ opener.

Arguably one of the best moments in recent Celtic history, here’s hoping there will be another day like it again.
