Hyunjun Yang was in devastating form in Celtic’s 5-2 win over St Mirren.

Coming on as a second-half substitution, Yang scored two and created one as Celtic wrapped up the three points late on in Paisley to leave St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson reeling.

With a 16-point gap now opened up at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to Rangers, Celtic’s win at St Mirren has pushed the South Korean firmly into the spotlight this weekend.

Yang has now scored three and created three and here, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers offers a cheeky explainer on why the 22-year-old has sparked into life at the Hoops.

Brendan Rodgers’ hilarious message to Celtic’s intrepreter about Hyunjun Yang

Rodgers was asked post-match about his thoughts on Yang’s upturn in perfromances over the last few weeks when the Celtic boss offered a cheeky explainer.

Laughing, Rodgers told BBC Sport Scotland, “Well, his girlfriend is here at the moment. So he is in a great feeling and she’s been here for a little while.

“So I’ve just said to our interpreter to make sure that she can stay in the country and be here.

“He’s just a young player who is growing and developing. That’s why you put in the work, why you train and why it’s more than just the results and performances; it’s about the development of players.”

What Brendan Rodgers previously said about Yang as Celtic winger does what boss asks

Rodgers is a fan of Yang, of that there is not doubt. The Celtic boss has previously told of his hope for the winger at the club and it seems that the youngster has taken his gaffer’s words on board.

Rodgers said og Yang’s future at the club, “It’s having to gauge whether he needs to go out and play and get the games to come back a better player, or whether he will improve being still in here and then playing, maybe not so regular, but getting those opportunities. So that’s always the balance. But we can definitely see improvement.

“We can see the strength in his game. For him, it’s about efficiency. You know, as a Celtic winger, you’re going to get lots of opportunities to score, to create goals.

“That’s where you get judged. What he also does, he presses the game. He works very, very hard. I like that side to him.”

Since Rodgers made those comments, Yang has scored three and created three assists in his last three games.

Hopefully the youngster can keep this form up and continue to contribute to Celtic winning the ninth treble in the club’s history this season.
