Brendan Rodgers has delivered an update on the status of Celtic striker Adam Idah after he sustained a knock following Liam Gordon’s dismissal for Motherwell last Sunday.
Speaking earlier this week, Rodgers revealed Adam Idah was in a moon boot after the challenge in the dying embers of the Bhoys’ victory at Fir Park over the weekend.
Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell labelled the red card ‘unbelievably harsh’ amid Gordon being sent for an early bath following a VAR intervention.
Nevertheless, the Steelmen have decided against appealing his two-match ban that will apply following the defender being given his marching orders, which tells you most of what you need to know.
Now, Rodgers has given an update on Idah’s availability with the Bhoys set to take on Dundee tomorrow night in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Dundee, Rodgers revealed that Idah is set for a scan today that will determine the outcome of Gordon’s challenge.
He explained: “He goes for a scan today, so we should find out a wee bit later on how that is. A nasty knock he took, so we’ll see how that is later.
Later, Rodgers added: “Well, I can’t worry until I get the results back; I think it was a poor challenge. Thankfully, the ground was a bit wet, so his foot is able to move, otherwise if it’s a dry pitch and his foot sticks in the field, it can be a really bad one.
Further down the line, the Irishman said when asked if Celtic had lost Idah for a period of time: “We haven’t lost him yet, so we’ll wait and see what the scan says, but it wasn’t a great challenge.
“Like I said after the game, and you don’t have a lot of time as a manager to look at these things in great detail, but when you actually come away and look at it, I still feel that he obviously didn’t mean to do harm with it, but it was a poor challenge, it was late at that stage of the game.”
Celtic will hope Adam Idah can return to the fold
Following his big-money permanent move from Norwich City in the summer, Idah has gone on to hit five goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this term.
Whether starting or coming off the bench to replace Kyogo Furuhashi, the Republic of Ireland international offers a valuable focal point in attack and a physical prowess that can help wear down backlines.
Without his availability, Celtic could be forced into using Daizen Maeda centrally where required to plug the gaps in attack.
Nevertheless, given that the outcome of his scan is still yet to hit the public domain, Rodgers will have his fingers crossed for good news on that front.
