Celtic’s draw with Dundee United keeps Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten start to the season intact in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The stalemate with Dundee United means the Celtic boss has now visited every away ground apart from Rangers in the league and has dropped just two points on the road since the season began way back in August.
But before Celtic face Rangers at Ibrox, Rodgers has fixtures against Motherwell and St Johnstone to negotiate before the big Glasgow Derby and with four players missing today, the Hoops boss has shared an update on the key players missing from the Tannadice draw.
Brendan Rodgers’ injury update on Celtic duo Nicolas Kuhn and Alistair Johnston
Rodgers told Sky Sports, “[The changes were] mostly due to illness and injuries. Cam and Austin have not been well in the week and haven’t picked up, so we’re hoping they’ll be okay for the next game but today, it was too much for them.
“We have Nicolas Kuhn who had a sore knee and hadn’t trained and he’d been out to give it a go. So just a little bit of pain, so he was obviously injured.
“And who else do we have? Alistair Johnston, just that issue that he had around his hip sort of flared up a little bit.
“So, yeah, he should be again okay for the next game, but not for today.”
Nicolas Kuhn and Alistair Johnston’s Celtic stats show the duo’s importance to Rodgers
Johnston and Kuhn have formed a formidable partnership down the right-hand side of Celtic’s team this season.
Most of Celtic’s attacking threats come from both players and with the duo missing today’s draw at Tannadice, their importance to Brendan Rodgers’ team was highlighted in all its glory in Tayside.

So here are both players’ stats for the season so far which explains a lot of why Celtic failed to open up Dundee United.
| Played | Goals | Assists | Rating | |
| Alistair Johnston | 24 | 4 | 5 | 7.93 |
| Nicolas Kuhn | 23 | 12 | 11 | 7.78 |
Taking that amount of goals and assists out will hurt any team, not just Celtic, but what it does show is that the players who stepped in in their absence are nowhere near the quality of Kuhn or Johnston.
Will that be something that Rodgers will look to address in the transfer window? Celtic fans will certainly hope so.
