Brendan Rodgers must consider dropping Scott Brown

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers must consider making a shock decision regarding his starting line-up for the clash against Valencia.

He must consider dropping Hoops skipper Scott Brown for the game. That might sound odd, particularly when you take into account Brown’s winning goal over the weekend against Kilmarnock.

Struggled badly in first leg

However, the Hoops skipper struggled at Rugby Park, and he fared even worse in the first leg against Valencia.

There was a period in the first-half of the game where Brown gave the ball away or played it out of play numerous times. It seemed to get to his team-mates and the Hoops struggled to recover.

Makes sense to be rested

Therefore, it makes sense for Brown to be rested for this game. As he is suspended for Celtic’s next league game against Motherwell, it would give him a much-needed break ahead of two tough looking matches against Hearts and Hibernian.

As for who replaces Brown in the side, Nir Bitton could well be a candidate. It would be a big occasion for the player, who would be starting his first game for a year.

But he is a player who has been dependable for the Hoops. And this can be a chance for him to show that he still has a future at the club. Perhaps as Brown’s natural successor in the team.

The starting line-up for the Hoops will certainly be intriguing, the Hoops boss should be brave and take Brown out of the side.
