As the Celtic fans enjoy watching last night’s win over Man City in the US Tour again, Brendan Rodgers has sent them a ‘clear’ message in regards to new transfer incomings at the club.
The Celtic boss spoke about his team’s win over Pep Guardiola’s side as goals from Nicolas Kuhn, Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi kept his 100% win record in the States intact.
As well as waxing lyrical about Celtic and how he feels the tour is going, Rodgers admitted that he has had meetings with Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay whilst in America about when the club will bring in more new signings this summer.
Brendan Rodgers sends ‘clear’ transfer message to the Celtic supporters
With less than two weeks to go until the new Scottish Premiership season kicks off, the fans are starting to get twitchy about the lack of transfer activity but Rodgers has moved to alleviate that after the win against Man City.
Rodgers said [Tar Heel Tribune], “Well I had a long meeting with Michael and Chris today, so we know the targets we want to bring in.
“There’s still a long way to go in the window. I think my concentration is that we know what we want to do, we know the priority positions that we want to improve.
“Whilst the club gets on with that, myself and the coaches are really focused on the improvement of this team.
“So at some point before the end of August, I would expect us to have the players we want in.
“I’ll make it clear to the Celtic supporters, we know we want to improve the squad and by the end of the window shuts, I expect us to be that.”
Rodgers delivers update on Paulo Bernardo
The Celtic manager was also asked for an update on the progress of a possible deal for Paulo Bernardo. The Portuguese was a hit during his loan spell last season but despite all the speculation of a return to Parkhead, Bernardo still remains at Benfica.

Rodgers continued, “There’s nothing new to add. There’s clearly a lot to work on behind the scenes and until there is any confirmation on that then we will let you know.”
So it looks like all is in hand with regards to bringing in new players at Celtic this summer and it seems that Rodgers is just asking for a bit of patience.
All the fans can do now is sit, wait and hope that the Celtic boss is able to bring the players he wants to the club so that they are ready to defend the SPFL title and make an impression on the Champions League.
