Celtic blew away Dundee at Parkhead last night as seven different scorers secured a magnificent 7-1 victory in front of a capacity home crowd.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Adam Idah sent the Bhoys on their way, applying headed finishes to establish a comfortable lead against Tony Docherty’s men.
Matt O’Riley then got in on the act by showing his own aerial prowess before Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor, and Callum McGregor gave Celtic an incredible 6-0 lead at the interval.
Brendan Rodgers’ men still kept up a high intensity in the second half, with Daniel Kelly adding a seventh on his home league debut by virtue of a curled finish on his weak foot.
Michael Mellon replied late for the visitors; however, the Hoops produced a swashbuckling performance that hasn’t been seen enough this season.
Heading into Sunday’s clash against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle, there couldn’t have been a better way to build confidence ahead of what is set up to be a season-defining day in the context of our Scottish Premiership title hopes.
Ten cup finals remain for the Bhoys, who look to be hitting their stride at the right time, though tougher tests are still left to come.
Brendan Rodgers explains what was so ‘great’ about Celtic victory
As would be expected, Rodgers has expressed his delight after his side managed to perform nothing short of a demolition job at home to Dundee.
Speaking post-match, the Irishman claimed that the 7-1 triumph was akin to the level of performance set during his imperious first spell in charge at Parkhead.

Rodgers stated [BBC Sport]: “You can see with players starting to return how that connects everything in the team.
“I thought the level of our football for large parts was really good. We created a lot of opportunities and in the second half we kept pushing, we were creative, and seven different goal-scorers is great. Overall, a great performance and result for us.
He later added: “Nights like that take me back to when I was first here – the performance, the intensity and everyone enjoying it. We’re here to win, but Celtic is about playing football that gets the supporters excited.”
Celtic put on a footballing spectacle at Parkhead against Dundee
Celtic put their best foot forward against Dundee, showing a level of control and intensity that hasn’t quite come together this campaign for whatever reason.
Today, we can enjoy the highlight reel from an excellent performance; nevertheless, it will mean nothing if we don’t follow it up with another victory against Hearts this weekend.
With the season run-in drawing closer, the Bhoys seem to be in a positive frame of mind as they look to fight it out until the end.
