Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has offered an update on Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor’s status as the Bhoys prepare to take on Motherwell on Sunday.

With the Hoops fresh from a Champions League draw with Atalanta in midweek, another exciting Scottish Premiership weekend is on the cards as the campaign takes shape.

Brendan Rodgers will want his full squad available for the clash, with the main focus being on the potential timeline of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor returning from injury.

Missing a portion of this term, Carter-Vickers has been suffering from a foot problem that led Auston Trusty to come in alongside Liam Scales in central defence.

On the same token, Taylor’s calf issue meant Alex Valle has taken a more prominent role in the side of recent, starting important domestic fixtures and Champions League ties against Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta.

Now, Rodgers has offered a squad update addressing both players’ availability alongside sharing the latest on the rest of his squad.

Brendan Rodgers offers Celtic injury update ahead of Motherwell

Anticipation is building as Celtic prepare to take on Motherwell at Fir Park come Sunday afternoon, and Rodgers has now revealed both players could be involved this weekend.

He explained: “We’ve got Cam back training with the squad, which is good news. Greg Taylor as well, so we’ve got one more day to go, and we’ll see how we are, but hopefully, they will be involved in the game.”

He continued, adding on supplementary options in the event of their absence: “Well, we like them to be available.

“I think that’s what’s important, so it gives us options, which is what you want as a coach, but I think, obviously, the team was outstanding defensively the other night, but to have those two guys back that are very important players for us will be good.”

Carter-Vickers and Taylor return would give Celtic major boost

Despite the performances of their deputies, there is no doubt Celtic are a better team with Carter-Vickers and Taylor in situ.

Both players have been bastions of the Bhoys’ success over recent years, helping to rake in regular domestic silverware.

With Celtic set for a packed run of fixtures, Rodgers will be delighted that both are back in contention, with stakes rising every passing game.

Hopefully, both can get some minutes under their belt this weekend after a frustrating period on the sidelines with injuries.
