Cameron Carter-Vickers limped out of Celtic’s 3-0 win over Dundee this afternoon, sparking a big injury concern ahead of the weekend’s crucial derby.
The Bhoys were comfortable winners at Dens Park thanks to goals from Paulo Bernardo and Mikey Johnston, but to see Carter-Vickers go off in the second half was a blow.
The USA international has struggled with a variety of injuries since the tail-end of last season and it’s not ideal with Celtic’s other defensive options considered a step below what he offers.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers on Cameron Carter-Vickers issue
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Brendan Rodgers said when asked if he’ll be okay for upcoming games: “Hopefully. We won’t know for the next couple of days. He just felt a tightness.
“He wanted to play on but the experience with Cameron now is as brave as he is and as much as he wants to get through the game we just have to take him off as a precaution.”
He confirmed on Sky Sports that his hamstring “hasn’t gone”, as in torn.
That’s a positive sign we may see him in action quickly. However, it seems that it’s a situation that needs to be managed over time. He may well be finding it difficult to play weekend to mid-week, which should be looked at.

The last thing Celtic need is for him to suffer a hamstring tear and be missing for months at a time. Even if that means missing this weekend’s game against Rangers.
Thankfully, though, that doesn’t appear to have occurred this afternoon and the Bhoys will now likely be waiting on scan results to give him the all-clear for upcoming games before the winter break.
