Celtic continued their winning streak at the start of the 2024/25 season with a slick 3-1 victory at home to Hibernian on Sunday.
Daizen Maeda, replacing an injured Kyogo Furuhashi, was tasked to find the goals as today’s centre-forward and didn’t disappoint with a first-half double to push the Bhoys towards League Cup progression.
Winger Nicolas Kuhn got in on the act shortly after the interval to ensure there was no tension in the closing stages.
It’s a lot of fun to be a Celtic supporter right now. A healthy crowd turned out to cheer the team on today and were left satisfied with what they witnessed.
Manager Brendan Rodgers was understandably happy too, giving his thoughts to BBC Radio Scotland in the aftermath.
Brendan Rodgers has his say on Celtic’s win over Hibs
The Bhoys boss said: “I thought we were very good. I thought we were excellent from the start of the game – we showed our hunger. We said before the game that our playmaker today would be our counter-pressing and our counter-pressing was there. We were winning so many second and third balls.
“Our only real danger was from throw-ins. They’ve got guys on either side of the pitch that can throw it in and add a little bit of pressure and make you fret a little bit. We dealt well with that. We didn’t give too much away. Their header was a great header.
“Overall the tempo in the game, the speed in the game, the quality in the attacking moments was fantastic.”

A big fortnight ahead for Celtic
St Mirren and Rangers are now on the immediate horizon over the next two weeks. It’s set to be a difficult and challenging period but every Celtic fan is backing the team to come through those tests unscathed.
With the transfer window rumbling on towards a deadline, too, there’s a lot of work ahead on and off the pitch to keep supporters happy.
There’s also the small matter of the Champions League draw on 29th August to look forward to.
