Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congerton could be on the verge of reuniting with each other, as the former is reportedly interesting the latter.

The New Leicester City manager appears to be going about making improvements to the structure at the King Power Stadium. And, according to the Telegraph, Rodgers wants his man for the start of next season.

The report claims that current Head of Recruitment at Leicester, Eduardo Macia, is set to leave the club. That opens up a nice spot for Congerton should Rodgers want him.

The Northern Irishman was consistently defensive of his Head of Recruitment whilst he was at Parkhead. Despite flop signings coming through the door such as Charly Musonda, Marvin Compper, and Jack Hendry to name a few – Rodgers was always happy to defend his record.

Supporters haven’t quite seen it the same way, however. The consistently poor signings coming through Parkhead have been costly. It’s likely that the likes of Compper and Hendry are on good wages. This is money Celtic can be doing without spending.

Celtic wanted to promote Congerton?

The club reportedly were interested in promoting Congerton to Sporting Director. It’s difficult to see how the fans would’ve backed that move. But it appears that the Welshman is looking to pursue avenues elsewhere according to TalkSPORT– something fans will be thankful for.

Congerton was certainly a highly-publicised appointment. But it’s difficult to make a case for him being a success here.

According to the Telegraph’s report, Congerton is more keen on a move abroad than to England. But it remains to be seen whether a reunion with Rodgers, with whom he worked with at Chelsea and Reading, is enough to sway him back down south.

Leicester City also have a Director of Football in place named Jon Rudkin. You have to wonder whether this would appeal to Congerton, as it will be a different way of working to operations at Parkhead.

Rodgers, if interested, clearly wasn’t trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes over Congerton. He must truly rate his close colleague highly.

But, wherever Congerton goes from here, it’s not looking likely that he’ll stay at Celtic.
