Brendan Rodgers is reportedly set to twist the knife into Celtic and steal Dedryck Boyata at the end of the season.
The Scottish Sun has stated that Rodgers will be given an eye-watering £200m to sign players in the summer. Not a penny of that, however, would go to a transfer fee for Boyata given that he’s out of contract at the end of the season.
Boyata’s agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, confirmed at the start of the year that signing a new Celtic contract was “not an option”. Therefore, it looks as though we’ll be powerless to resist Rodgers from pinching him.

The Sun, however, also believes that Rodgers is interested in taking Kieran Tierney down south in the summer too. Fortunately, this is something Celtic can have an effect on. The Hoops should be telling Rodgers and his Leicester side where to go given the manner of his departure.
Tierney doesn’t have a reported valuation, and Celtic are right not to put one on his head. He’s invaluable to the Parkhead side, and also signed a new six-year deal back in October 2017.
Boyata out but Tierney to hopefully stay
10-in-a-row may have been much of a carrot for Brendan “I’m in my dream job” Rodgers. For Tierney, however, surely that won’t be the case. He must be enthused by the prospect of becoming a Celtic legend. He’s at the stage where his name could be solidified as one of the greats should he stay.
That’s exactly what would happen if he turned down any advances and stayed for the 10.

Granted, we’re all now surely resigned to losing Boyata. He’ll surely be off in the summer whether it’s to Leicester City or somewhere else. But at least he has the decency to see out the season before heading off.
Boyata has consistently been putting himself on the line and thrashing into challenges since the start of the season. To say he hasn’t been committed to the Celtic cause would be massively unfair. He’s repaid the fans for his Athens blunder in my view and worked hard over the season to keep us on track for a treble-treble.
According to the Sun, however, Filip Benkovic is also in Rodgers’ plans.
With Jeremy Toljan heading back to Borussia Dortmund in the summer as well as Cristian Gamboa and Mikael Lustig’s contracts coming to an end, we could see some major surgery on this defence in the off-season.
