Celtic fan protests are set to continue.

Brendan Rodgers’ side walked out to a half-empty away end against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, and to a sea of anti-board banners against Partick Thistle at Firhill.

But it was announced today that protests are set to continue, with the Celtic Fan Collective planning action at three upcoming home fixtures.

It comes as a progression of a rift between supporters and the club’s board, mainly stemming from a lack of communication.

But ahead of Saturday’s match, the Hoops boss has said that there is a willingness from the board to address these issues.

Celtic board see communication as a key objective says Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers himself has made clear his own communications with the board, revealing his transfer demands to the public.

Speaking ahead of Saturdays’ match against Hibernian, he said: “I think that is something that I’m pretty sure the board and executive team are looking at, in terms of ways to better communicate with supporters.

“I haven’t spoken to the guys today or yesterday, but I know that coming out of the window that was one of the key objectives, to engage more and speak more with supporters.

“I’m pretty sure in time that will be the case. In the modern life, the modern world, communication is absolutely vital. It can stabilise lots of things in life having that clarity and sometimes you have to be harsh, to be clear, but you’re better being harsh and communicating than not saying anything.

“So I think it’s definitely something the club are looking into, looking at how the comms aspect can improve relations because there’s absolutely no doubt that’s what supporters want.

“As the manager and executive board, we’re looking after the team and the club for you guys.”

Will Celtic fan protests affect the Celtic team?

There has been much debate about the extent to which fan protests affect the performance level of the Celtic players.

There is no doubt that fans play a role on matchday, and that Celtic Park is a stadium that can feel difficult to play at when supporters are making noise.

At the same time, the players are professionals. The crowd not vocally supporting the team does not mean that they are not supporting them at all.

If the club is to truly be unified, the board must play its part too – and if they engage in a way which satisfies fans, all of this could be over in the blink of an eye.
