Brendan Rodgers has disclosed why Scott Bain has been handed the gloves as Celtic’s number one goalkeeper.
Bain replaced Craig Gordon in the first match after the winter break. He has helped the Hoops to six wins in a row, with no goals conceded.
Now the Hoops boss have given his reasons for making Bain his first choice.

“Scott’s decision making is very good” Rodgers told the Evening Times. ” When we brought him in here, it is because he had a really good view of game.”
“I’ve always had goalkeepers like that because how they build a game is really important to how my teams play.”

Reading between the lines, it seems that Rodgers is more comfortable with how Bain is able to play out from the back than how former number one Craig Gordon was.
Bain seem composed with the ball at his feet, and that is important to the Hoops as many moves build from the back with a pass from the goalkeeper to a defender.

So far, you have to say that the decision to make Bain the number one goalkeeper has been nothing but positive. Keeping six clean sheets in a row is not an easy thing to do.
Credit has to go to the Hoops defenders as well, but Bain’s coolness under pressure can’t be discounted. The goalkeeping position looks to be his for as long as he wants it to be.
