Brendan Rodgers has shared some good news about injured Celtic duo Alistair Johnston and Marco Tilio.
The Canadian and Australian haven’t been seen in action yet this season, but their returns may not be too far away after Rodgers‘ much-appreciated update.
The Celtic manager spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon. After sharing that forward Hyeongyu Oh would miss “four to six weeks” with a calf complaint, the news got a little better.
“The injured guys are doing really well,” Rodgers said. (Celtic YouTube)
“Ali Johnston is back on the grass, running and working. He’s upping his intensity so that’s really, really good.
“Marco Tilio is now out on the grass as well. He’s moving well. We expect him maybe to be middle of September, so maybe another month away.

“But he’s out on the grass which is a big step for him.”
Rodgers is right, that is very good news about Johnston and Tilio. With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Anthony Ralston returning to action recently, our injury list has certainly reduced.
Mikey Johnston is another long-term absentee, while Yuki Kobayashi hasn’t yet returned to the squad. But things are looking much better than a few weeks ago.
The big question on many people’s lips now will be whether Johnston will be back in time for the derby at Ibrox on September 3.

The right-back still has three-and-a-half weeks to be ready for that one and Celtic fans will be hoping for the best, given his contributions in derbies since signing in January.
Maybe soon we’ll get to see a full-strength Rodgers side in action.
In other news, Johnston is set to face off against some of his Celtic team-mates later this year
