The deal to bring in Adam Idah on loan from Norwich to Celtic wasn’t one that caught the imagination of many Bhoys supporters, but he’s had a strong first week in Scotland.
Assisting the equalising goal against Aberdeen at Pittodrie and netting both goals in a 2-1 win away to Hibernian mid-week, the Republic of Ireland striker is already winning points for his new club.
He’s now firmly in the mix for a starting berth in Brendan Rodgers’ attack – it would be no surprise to see him in the line-up again for Sunday’s trip to St Mirren in the Scottish Cup.
For the Celtic manager, the most impressive traits he’s seen in the forward since arriving at the club are his composure and authority in converting big chances when they’ve come along.
Rodgers also believes that Idah will only get better in green and white from this point onwards.
Brendan Rodgers on Adam Idah’s Celtic start
The Bhoys boss said [Celtic FC]: “It was important to get a level of player that can come in and contribute. That was his first 90 minutes for a long period of time.
“What was really impressive was, in terms of his two penalties, the composure and authority that he shows. It’s not easy. The time lag between taking the first one, his first goal for the club, and his last one which would be a winning goal – to score them with that authority was great.
“In the actual game itself, just him coming to terms with how we want to press the game and how we want to run in behind. He was constantly searching and getting into some really good positions. He’s only going to get better.
“He has to keep pushing himself. There are lots of players in the world that have talent, but you don’t know their names. They’re playing in park in cities around the world. He has the talent but he has to keep ensuring that he works and works. If he can do that he’ll be a real asset for us between now and the end of the season.”

With Hyeongyu Oh returning from the Asian Cup and Kyogo Furuhashi still pushing to make an impact, Celtic now have three good central attacking options for the remainder of the campaign.
Idah has immediately shown he can be trusted to make an impact and hopefully the added competition helps others such as Kyogo to find their best Bhoys form again.
It sounds like Rodgers is ready to rely on the Norwich talent if they can’t.
