Invincible treble. Double treble. Potential treble treble. It all means nothing now.
Tuesday the 26th of February 2019 will now go down as a dark day for Celtic.
The Mirror are reporting that Brendan Rodgers has quit Celtic in favour of a return to the English Premier League with Leicester City.
It is a real body blow to Celtic Football Club. Rodgers arrived in 2016 and revolutionised the club from top to bottom.

In the near three seasons Rodgers has been Celtic manager, they have almost been perfect domestically.
Seven straight domestic trophies made their way to the Celtic Park trophy cabinet. The first three in invincible fashion.
They were days among the best of any Celtic supporter’s life. Tom Rogic’s late winner at Hampden against Aberdeen had the same mystique about it like the goals fans were brought up on from stories from grandparents.
Legends of folklore like Jimmy Quinn, Patsy Gallagher and Charlie Tully all felt like mere mortals compared to the new heroes like Rogic, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.
Rodgers gave us all of that. Another treble followed the next year, he had simply became immortal to the Celtic support.
It all feels like it means nothing now.
Now he’s preparing to leave for Leicester half way through the season, he is persona non grata to most of the fan base.

As great as it all sounds, things haven’t always been smooth sailing for Rodgers at Celtic.
The Daily Record reported on Rodgers’s frustration over missing out on John McGinn. The Hibs midfielder’s move to Aston Villa left a bad taste in Rodgers’s mouth.
A shaky start to his third season followed, and an early exit in the Champions League. It was the first time under Rodgers that Celtic had failed to get to the group stages.
Celtic struggled domestically too. In Rodgers’s first two seasons in the league, he only lost four games.
This season he’s already lost four, ironically to three of the same four teams. It now looks like Rangers will be the last team to defeat a Rodgers Celtic side.
And speaking of Rangers, the Northern Irishman had them in his pocket throughout his tenure. 13 games, 10 wins, two draws and one solitary defeat.
No matter how much momentum they could muster, Rodgers always seemed a step ahead of his great rivals.
Three semi final derbies resulted in an aggregate score of 7-0 to Celtic. Rangers couldn’t stop Rodgers and now after one defeat, he’s walking away from the challenge.

It all means nothing now
If there’s one word that can be used to sum up Rodgers’s time at Celtic it would be, right now, ‘mockery.’
He spent years defending the club when it came to other English clubs. He spoke tirelessly about his love of the club and how he was in ‘the best job in the world’ on Talksport.
It feels like with one move, he has made a mockery of his entire tenure at the club. Nearly three years of historical success wiped away.
No disrespect to Leicester, but they are and always will be an inferior club to Celtic.
And not only that, they’ve had their success. How does Rodgers top Claudio Ranieri’s achievements? They sacked Ranieri months after he won them the Premier League!
After three years of giving the Celtic fans success, Rodgers has decided to make a mockery of them and leave for Leicester.
The uncoupling of Rodgers and Celtic should have been a celebration of even more historical success. Now it’s a bitter divorce that will overshadow anything that happened during the happy period.
Good riddance.
