Read MoreBrown on the Tierney example that Frimpong can follow
Scott Brown has likened the first-team rise of Jeremie Frimpong to that of Kieran Tierney, and said the Scottish full-back has set the template for the youngster to follow.
Celtic fans have been rightly bowled over by former Manchester City youngster Frimpong in his early days. The Dutch youth international may only have made nine starts for the club so far, but the level of his displays have propelled him to an almost unheard of hero status for such a young player.

Brown has praised the summer recruit and reckons that his first-team introduction has been very similar to £25million man Tierney.
“He is incredible value for money, there’s no other way you can put it,” Brown told the Scottish Sun.
“I don’t think there’s been anyone apart from Jeremie and Kieran who have broken into the team at that age and done that well in such a short amount of time.
“He’ll be worth serious money in a few years.

“Kieran is the template for everyone that’s come through. His attitude and love for the club as well. He came through and worked hard every day.”
It’s easy to see comparisons between Tierney and Frimpong
Brown has been around Celtic Park and Lennoxtown longer than most so his opinion on matters such as this should be taken very seriously. The skipper will have seen numerous highly-rated prospects given the chance to step up – with some making the grade and the majority failing.
It’s interesting that he puts Frimpong in a similar category to Tierney after such a short time. It’s easy to see why though. The Arsenal man was a virtual immediate success at the club under Ronny Deila, with his early performances demanding that he feature more, at the expense of Emilio Izaguirre.

Frimpong’s displays are making similar waves at present. Many already feel that he is our best right-back option despite being almost a decade younger than both Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer.
The consistent level of his performances have been outstanding, much like Tierney’s were at a similar stage. In a direct comparison between the two, it’s probably fair to say that Frimpong is a better attacker than the Arsenal man, while Tierney shades defending capability.
It’s just a shame that we never got to see the two in the same team. This one has shades of Virgil Van Dijk and Victor Wanyama about it.
