Brown still upbeat on Celtic chances in Valencia

Celtic captain Scott Brown has outlined how the Hoops can pull off an unlikely triumph against Valencia in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Hoops go into the game facing a 2-0 deficit following a poor display at Celtic Park. Despite being rank outsiders, Brown has disclosed how the Hoops can pull off a miracle at the Mestella.

“Not chase the game”

“We have to make sure that we create the chances and take them. We also have to be patient on the ball and not chase the game for 90 minutes” he told the official Celtic website.

“We need to press high up the park and challenge the home side.”

The Hoops failed to get going at any stage of the first leg. Brown is partly to blame for that. He failed to get control of the game, and his passing was very poor at times.

However, if the Hoops play to the blueprint set out by their captain they might have a chance of pulling off a shock victory.

Up and down season

Brown has had an up and down last few months. He was poor in the 1-0 loss to Rangers in December, but just last week he scored the vital winner against Kilmarnock.

On his day he can be the best player on the park, and can drive the Hoops on to victory. For Celtic to have any chance of defeating Valencia, they will need the skipper to be at his best.
