Celtic’s clash with Feyenoord is a meeting of two sides at roughly the same budget.

Despite this, there aren’t many Hoops fans feeling too optimistic, given the side’s dismal showing in the last matchday against Midtjylland.

Celtic sit one point ahead of Feyenoord in the League Phase, with neither side currently in the top 24 places which are needed to avoid elimination.

After a positive start to the season for the Dutch side under Robin van Persie, they have lost three consecutive games ahead of the Celtic clash, which is a must-win for both sides.

One Feyenoord expert has told Hoops fans the one area where his side can be exploited.

Feyenoord fan on potential worries for Europa League clash with Celtic

This could be Martin O’Neill’s final European match in charge of Celtic, with Wilfried Nancy supposedly waiting in the wings.

O’Neill has won four of his five matches in his interim spell.

Luuk from the Kein Geloel Feyenoord fan podcast has been discussing on Celtic AM about his feelings ahead of the game.

He said: “We have good quality players, and everybody is technically very well.

“But in the last 20 metres of the opponent, we are lacking the finesse. The final pass.

“I’m not so sure what kind of play [Celtic] are playing, but if you’re good in counter-attack, I should be worried.

“If you have a lot of fast players in the attack, then you can hurt Feyenoord pretty well.

“We tend to go up very far on the pitch, with a very high line – and we have some pace in the defence, but if you look at the last couple of goals that we conceded, that’s one of the pain points.

“Massive respect for Celtic as a club. We have shared a great history, especially for the European Cup final in Milan in 1970… I’m sure you all know how that went!

“But if you look at the more recent history, I think always, the away days in Glasgow are very high on the list for any Feyenoord fans.

“I can’t speak for all Feyenoord fans, but I really respect and admire the Celtic fans, so I’m looking forward to the game.”

Celtic and Feyenoord’s European results so far

Celtic secured a respectable point in Belgrade in matchday one thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho, but were beaten by Braga at home a fortnight later.

Feyenoord suffered the same fate in their opening fixture against the Portuguese side, before remaining pointless after a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Celtic secured their first victory against Sturm Graz – this proved to be Brendan Rodgers’ last in charge of the Hoops. But Midtjylland was a desperately poor night which has made this fixture a must-win.

The Dutch side also secured their first win on matchday three, beating Panathinaikos at De Kuip – but a 2-0 loss to Stuttgart last time out has left them also in need of a win tonight.
