BT Sport will air highlights of Celtic’s incredible Champions League win over Manchester United in 2006 later this week, their current schedules show.

The half-hour programme is due to start at 18:30 on BT Sport 3 this Thursday evening, with fans able to relive one of the famous European nights at Celtic Park.

A glorious Shunsuke Nakamura free-kick was enough to win the match 1-0 and send Celtic into the last 16 of the modern Champions League format for the first time.

Late drama came even after the Japanese icon’s wonderful effort, with goalkeeper Artur Boruc stepping up to deny a Louis Saha penalty, as Paradise roared under the lights.

It was a wonderful result against one of Alex Ferguson’s elite teams. Man United wouldn’t lose another group match away from home in the competition for another 5 years.

Stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand just couldn’t find a way to deny Gordon Strachan’s heroes.

Although Nakamura’s talent had been obvious prior to this match, his free-kick was one of the moments that helped cement his status as one of the best players to pass through the club over the last 20 years.

He would go on to celebrate more big moments, including an unbelievable long-range strike against Rangers in a pivotal 2008 clash.

Remarkably the 41-year-old former Japanese international is still playing football in his homeland, starring for Yokohama FC in the country’s top-flight.

Winding back the years and watching the midfield magician in action on Thursday evening sounds like good shutdown viewing to me!
