Broadcaster BT Sport have scheduled up a two-hour block of Celtic European classics tonight on BT Sport 3, much to the delight of Hoops supporters.

Starting at 7pm on the channel, highlights of matches against Juventus, Manchester United, Milan and Barcelona will be aired, all of which resulted in victories for the Hoops.

The encounter against Juventus comes from the 2001/02 season when a Chris Sutton inspired performance ensured that Martin O’Neill’s side emerged as 4-3 winners, though it was not enough to progress from our Champions League group.

In 2006, Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United visited Celtic Park, sent home to England with a 1-0 defeat thanks to a famous Shunsuke Nakamura free-kick.

Milan are the next victims on the highlights slate, beaten by Gordon Strachan’s Celtic in 2007 thanks to a last gasp goal from Scott McDonald which prompted hilarious antics from goalkeeper Dida.

The final match in the BT Sport block of programming is the famous victory over Barcelona in 2012, when Neil Lennon’s Bhoys shocked the world after goals from Victor Wanyama and rookie Tony Watt.

It should be a brilliant two hours for fans to reminisce with, as the majority of the general public find themselves indoors with not much to do because of the ongoing health crisis.

Fans have already taken to social media in anticipation of the highlights airing, with famous supporters such as Andy Robertson also sharing their delight.

We’ll all be dreaming of European football returning to Celtic Park as soon as is safe.
