BT Sport 3 will air a half-hour highlights programme of Celtic’s classic UEFA Champions League win over Juventus this evening at 8:30pm, it was announced on Twitter today.
With broadcasters searching for answers to filling their schedule following the postponement of most live sport around the world, it’s footage from the archives that many are turning to in an effort to bring in viewers.
BT Sport’s highlights tonight will be from the 4-3 game against the Italian giants back in 2001, as Martin O’Neill’s side made a bid to reach the next stage beyond the Champions League group stages.
Unfortunately, the win was not enough to send us through but the match lives long in the memory thanks to strikes from Chris Sutton and a magical performance from icon Lubo Moravcik.
Sutton appears to be looking forward to reliving the fixture, retweeting BT Sport’s post this afternoon.
Another Champions League classic to feast on tonight…

Sutton’s ferocious volley, which proved to be the winning goal, is one of the modern classics at the club and is the perfect lockdown viewing for supporters looking to entertain themselves tonight.
The victory moved Celtic on to nine points in the group. However, a victory for Porto against Rosenborg would ensure that O’Neill’s side bowed out of the competition.
Joos Valgaeren and Henrik Larsson also found themselves on the scoresheet.
Those in attendance will know that the atmosphere was absolutely electric. To me, it stands as one of the loudest ever matches at Celtic Park.
With so much going on in the outside world and the government recommending everyone stay indoors where possible, tonight’s show could be a welcome distraction and provide a bit of entertainment for supporters.
One day in the future, we can look forward to Celtic action returning for real.
