Callum McGregor and Scotland set for major night but it could be a tough watch for Celtic fans

Many Celtic supporters may have an unpleasant feeling somewhere inside them during Spain vs Scotland.

It’s a huge night for Callum McGregor, Greg Taylor and the whole country as we aim to qualify for Euro 2024. A win or a draw away to the Spaniards will seal the deal. Given that only hosts Germany have qualified so far, these really are bizarre times we’re living through.

McGregor is very likely to start the match, as he usually does for Scotland, while Taylor will probably find himself on the bench.

I must admit that I wasn’t really paying too much attention to where tonight’s match was being played. Spain tend to move their fixtures around the country so it really was anyone’s guess. It turns out that they’ve gone for Seville.

But not only that. As the Scotland National Team Twitter account highlighted in their ‘setting the scene’ post on Thursday morning, the match will take place at Estadio La Cartuja.

That cursed stadium is where we faced Porto in a UEFA Cup final we’d all rather forget about. It was a totally gutting night at the end of an amazing run. Like me, most of you still won’t be able to watch the highlights.

So just a little bit of information for you there. If you turn tonight’s game on and find it all brings back bad memories and you can’t work out why, that’s the reason.

Let’s hope McGregor, Taylor and the rest of Scotland has tears of joy this time around.
